Korean American Youth Association
For over ten years, the Korean American Youth Association (formerly the Korean
Branch of the Washington Metropolitan YMCA) have given their time and resources to promoting Korean culture to families with
Korean children. KAYA offers the community a Korean culture school, after-school programs, and many other activities
to support the youth of the community. The annual KAYA - Korean Focus Lunar New Year Celebration has become a tradition
in the Washington, D.C. area.

Korean American Coalition - DC Chapter
KAC was founded in
1983 in Los Angeles, California, as a nonprofit service, education, and advocacy organization that facilitates the Korean
American community's participation in civic, legislative, and community affairs. Today, KAC has grown into a national organization
with membership chapters in several cities along the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii, and affiliate organizations on the East
Coast. With over a dozen full-time staff and a large base of volunteers, KAC provides a variety of direct and indirect services
to the fast growing Korean American communities across the nation.

Korean American Cultural Center
The Korean American Cultural Center are a dedicated group of young
Korean Americans who work to bring Korean traditional percussion, poongmul, to the community. Under the
direction of Hyun Sook Cho, KACC members learn, perform, and teach poongmul. For many years, Ms. Cho and
KACC members Chi Young Park and Sae Young Park have taught the Korean Focus drumming troupe Uttummuri, and have performed
with the Uttummuri drummers at many local events.

Jung Sook Park Chae
Mrs. Jung Sook Park Chae teaches the Korean Focus Family Drummers,
Hanguk Eui Sori. For several years, Mrs. Park Chae has traveled weekly from her home in Maryland to the Virginia
suburbs to teach the group a variety of traditional samulnori techniques and rhythms on janggu and buk,
including the elaborate rhythms played using the drumsticks.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and The Korean
Cultural Service
Korean American families in the Washington, DC area are fortunate
to have the support and services of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Service. Through the
programs, films, materials, and language classes of the Korean Cultural Service, and the funding and other support provided
by the Embassy, Korean Focus is able to enhance its programs and reach a wider audience.
